BackgroundThe PE Generics Project was established in response to a recognized need to standardize generic work descriptions and improve relativity in classification levels for common work across the federal public service. Service to clients through human resources groups across government has far-reaching impacts on service to Canadians. It is critical that the work of the PE community be made as efficient as possible. A healthy and sustainable PE community benefits us all. This project will contribute to the development of a common and consistent set of management tools that will be made available to HR managers across the federal public service. These tools will support a framework that will facilitate portability and transferability of skills horizontally, resulting in a public service culture that extends beyond individual organizations. The PE Generics Project is ideally positioned to provide a sustainable model for other communities of practice. A similar initiative is underway for the CS community. |
